House / disco digging guide · 7 October 2026

Killer artists to dig next

Start with Demuir, Fouk and Kerri Chandler. Then Kevin McKay and Pinto (NYC). The aim is a smaller collection of excellent, playable tracks, not every song by every artist.

The listening plan
1. Binge the listeningOpen one artist. Audition a handful of tracks and versions.
2. Keep 2-4 that earn itOne warm-up, one lift, one special moment beats 20 near-identical grooves.
3. Build from real filesCheck the exact mix. Import, analyse and test it before calling it set-ready.
28 artists checked. Open each shortlist for verified mixes, owned-track notes and any gaps.
Link and pool caveats

Each artist search link was opened in ZIPDJ at a slow pace: 27 on 7 October 2026, plus Four Tet on 10 October 2026. All returned an exact-name artist entry and track results. Justice includes originals as well as edits. Daft Punk's first-page tracks were remixes and edits; familiar release titles do not confirm the original versions. This was a first-page link check, not a catalogue crawl or a check of every track. The first song named is a taste anchor, not a promise that its exact mix is in the pool. Searches can include remixer credits and namesakes; Paul Johnson returns two artist entries with the same name, so inspect the releases before choosing.

This is a listening shortlist, not advice to download whole catalogues. Pool terms still apply; you choose and download manually.

Get good files, not a big mess

Exact mix first. Club/extended versions often give you more mixing room, but the radio edit may be the song you actually love. Match artist, title, version and duration. A familiar title is not enough.

Quality needs a listen. A 320 kbps label is not proof of a clean master. Listen for clipping, thin sound, odd edits and damaged intros/outros. Do not upscale a low-quality file and call it fixed.

Make the library work. Analyse BPM/key, check the beatgrid, add cues, then tag worthiness, energy and role. Build sets from files that are present and auditioned. Spotify is the inspiration layer, not a promise of a matching MP3.
